Dr. Shikha Parmar is a vocationally trained General Practitioner with 30 years of experience in family medicine.

A graduate of the University of Auckland and supplementing her medical degree with  Diplomas in Paediatrics and then Obstetrics, and completing her vocational training in general practice, Dr. Parmar began her career in family medicine in 1995. She has worked in diverse communities, from the economically challenged and ethically varied areas of South Auckland to the more relaxed northern beaches, and everywhere in between. She moved to Victoria in 2001 and after spending 9 years working in regional Victoria, she continued her GP work in the vibrant inner northwest of Melbourne, maintaining her connection to general practice.

Throughout her career, Dr. Parmar has utilise her knowledge and skills well beyond the consulting room, has contributed to medical education and leadership. This has included teaching, examining and mentoring medical students at the University of Melbourne, examining for the RACGP, and serving on consultative committees for the Auckland Health Board. She has also worked as a consultant for the Rural Workforce Agency Victoria, who address GP shortages in regional areas.

While she continues her skill and passion in general practice her focus since 2011 has been at Laser Pain Therapy Australia, where she helps patients with unresolved musculoskeletal issues achieve lasting remission and return to functional, pain-free living through the application of photobiomedicine.
